As fall sports gear up, senior athletes have played their “last first” game of the season. For many, it is exciting to be the leaders on the court and field, but also can become a sad time, as the realization of many “lasts” hits hard.

Below are expectations of seniors from each fall sport.

Volleyball

“It’s simple, I expect us to win a conference championship,” Maddie Bardole said. “While I don’t want my time as a Beaver to go to quickly, I am excited to see how our hard work pays off in the end,” She added.

“I agree with Maddie, I expect us to win a conference championship. We are a really fun, talented group of girls that love the game of of volleyball. We know we have what it takes, we just have to go out there and show it,” Sydnee Donnelli said.

Men’s Soccer

“My expectation that has been building up for the last few months is to make it to the conference tournament. It has been years since the soccer program has made it, but the hardwork and dedication the whole team has put in this off-season will pay off,” Carlos Silva said. “I’m really excited to be able to play the sport that I have loved since I can remember with some of the best people I have met one last go around,” He said.

Women’s Soccer

“My expectations are high since we have great potential and variety on our team. I want us to not only get a few more wins under our belts, but I hope we can make it to the conference tournament,” Patricia Schwartz said.

Cross Country

“I expect our team to have two individuals make it to nationals this year, and at least be in the middle of the pack in the conference. I am excited to have the opportunity to run at a high level in college and finish this adventure I have had since freshman year,” Steven Smith said.

Women’s Tennis

“I expect our team to be a competitive threat within the IIAC this year. We are really working to pick up both more team and individual wins this season,” Tarynne Kinghorn said.

Women’s Golf

“Our coach has really been making us focus on specific, individual goals for each tournament which has helped us improve, and I hope to keep seeing those improvements throughout the season,” Elizabeth Kim said. “I am really excited to play some nice courses that are familiar to me as well as experience some new courses on our schedule this year,” she continued.

Football

“My expectation for the team this year is to compete and have fun while we’re doing it. We’ve shown glimpses of what we can do, but now it’s time for us to put a complete game together,” Justin Kahl said. “It’s important to remember to have fun while I still have this final season to play with a bunch of my great friends and finish my football career on a high note with these guys,” he added.

“I am expecting a turn around season from last year because our new strength coach. He prepared us to be more physically and mentally prepared for this year, and I’m excited to start conference play,” Michael Davidson said.
