When I arrived, to my surprise, a Piper Archer II had just landed and way taxiing back to the hangers.

Things to keep you productive when you’re avoiding homework

Things+to+keep+you+productive+when+you%E2%80%99re+avoiding+homework

Dee Friesen | Staff Writer

It’s that time of year. You’re either finished with the big projects of the semester or procrastinating last minute assignments. I don’t blame you. The sun is shining, and you’d rather do anything than stay in your room doing homework. There are some that might be satisfied with effortlessly basking in the sun under the freshly bloomed trees, but there are others that still itch for some organized and productive activity. The problem is, we spend too much time thinking and debating what to do that by the time we choose, the day is nearly over. My hope is this list will spark your creative side and help you narrow down an activity that will be both fun and productive.

1. Read
Okay, as if we don’t do enough of this for class, right? But I mean, read because you want to. Read for enjoyment! Pick up that book you’ve been meaning to finish. Don’t want to read inside? Walk to a local park to enjoy the fresh air and relaxing ambiance of nature, and let your mind relax with a book that is not related to class.

2. Write
Again, don’t we do this enough? Some of us are great writers. Most don’t even know it. With everything that’s on my mind, sometimes I find it difficult to relax. Take some time to write down your thoughts. It will help clear your mind. It doesn’t have to have any sort of structure. Keep in mind this isn’t for class! It could be as simple as starting a journal. If you find you really enjoy it, start a blog!

3. Create
There are so many options here. The thing I love most about creativity is there are no limits! You can create whatever you want with whatever you want! It can be as simple as pen and paper. Sketch something even if you don’t think you’re good at it. Try something new! Our generation has a great tool called Pinterest. Find inspirations for affordable crafts to do them with a group of friends.

4. Capture
Take advantage of the beauty around you! You don’t have to have a fancy camera; just use what’s on your phone. Explore Storm Lake with any sort of camera in hand. Capture what captivates you. Share it on social media or keep it to yourself. Sometimes you see things differently than others. It’s nice to have new perspectives out there!
