When I arrived, to my surprise, a Piper Archer II had just landed and way taxiing back to the hangers.

Pierce & White Hall room reservations

Lesa Turnquist | Copy Co-Editor

The major renovation project of Pierce and White Halls at Buena Vista University (BVU) has been finished for the 2012-2013 school year. The renovation included remodeling of the dorm rooms, bathrooms, and overall building make-up. More features, such as the common lounges, have also been added to the building. Because of these new and unique additions, there has been more of a demand to use these places.

In order to control their use, Res-Life is now offering reservations for certain study rooms, the pool room, kitchens, and multipurpose rooms, which includes the skybox in Pierce. The use of reservation will be beneficial in many ways. It gives Res-Life a chance to keep track of when and how these spaces are used and to help avoid overscheduling. It also serves as a reward for those planning in advance. When the rooms are not reserved, they are open to anybody.

As part of the reservations, the skybox will not be open to the public during athletic home games. Students must have a reservation in order to use the room. The reason for this is to encourage people to watch the events from the stands in order to become more involved in the game. It serves a purpose to the athletes to see their fans supporting and cheering them on.

Reservation forms can be found on the BVU website in the Res-Life section under the Resources tab. This form is to be filled out completely and can be turned in to Dijon DeLaPorte in Student Affairs. From there, he will approve it to be sure there are no problems or conflicts. Further issues or concerns will be addressed as they come up.
