When I arrived, to my surprise, a Piper Archer II had just landed and way taxiing back to the hangers.

Blogger reaction: Republican National Convention

Meghan Harmening | Contributing Writer

It was an emotional day on August 30th as America’s assumptions were confirmed at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida. It’s #RomneyRyan2012 everybody! The duo brings a humble excitement to the stage as America moves down the road to the 2012 presidential election in November.

In his acceptance speech, Mitt Romney went on to explain that the path we’ve been trekking down these past four years is not the path that Americans deserve. “What could you do? You worked a little harder. You worked two jobs. Your family depended on it. You didn’t quit. You did what you had to do.” Romney knows that Americans deserve better than what we’ve been given in the past four years. Life has truly been hard.

“To be an American is to assume all things are possible,” Romney said.

Everything should be taken as a challenge, and these past four years are giving a challenge to the whole country. The question now is, who is going to take this challenge and run with it?

Romney is our man. He knows that America runs on hard work and entrepreneurs, not on government handouts. He knows that women play an important role in our economy, whether in the home or in the business world. He explained that he knows something is wrong with our current president when “the best feeling some people have had in the past four years is the day they voted for [Obama]”. He wants the American people to be able to count on a president with which they can say, “I am better off than I was four years ago.”

“It’s time to restore the promise of America.” Romney reminds us that the American people have not lost sight of the American dream, but it has been slightly hidden in the past four years by the Obama administration. It is a five-step process for America and the dynamic Romney/Ryan team. First we will, at last, be dependent solely on the oil we can produce on our own land. Second, when it comes to school, “every parent will have a choice, and every child will have a chance,” Romney said. Third, trade will finally work for America. When nations cheat on trade agreements, the consequences will come down harder than ever before. Fourth, the deficit will be put in perspective, cut down, and America will be set on the path for a balanced budget. Fifth, the small businesses will no longer be on the back burner. They will not suffer with unnecessary taxes in order to pay of the large debt our nation holds because we cannot suffocate the job creators in this country. There will not be tax raises on the middle class of America. And finally, the repeal of Obamacare will finally make way for a brighter future.

He’s a family man. He’s a businessman. Ultimately, he’s our man. If he can’t do it, no one can. Our current president has not led America down the path to a wealthy recovery. Mitt Romney knows what it takes to unleash an economy where each family has the confidence to know that their children have a bright future ahead of them. Mitt Romney knows what it takes to restore the American dream. He believes in our America and is the only man for the job.
