Stephen Curry, ISU, and BVU to name a few

Unfortunately, the highlight of my week happened a week ago today. Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows what I’m talking about. On last Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden on ESPN, a day after a scuffle with Roy Hibbert and the Pacers without their second best player David Lee, my boy Stephen Curry went absolutely bananas. Just a few of the numbers from that historic night: 28, 11, 61, 54, and 8. First, 28, the amount of rebounds corralled by Tyson Chandler in this game. The absence of David Lee played a factor in this number, but still, Chandler had only 10 less rebounds than the entire Warriors team. Well played, Chandler. Next, 11: the number of three’s Steph put through the hole. It was literally raining in MSG. Next, 61: the combined total of points scored by Melo and JR Smith in the game, 35 and 26 respectively. And the number we’ve all been waiting for: fifty-freaking-four. WOW. I’m not even sure what to say. Fifty-four points on 28 shots. Elegance and efficiency. At some points, I literally think he was unconscious. Wow, just wow. Lastly, the number 8: This was how many times during the second half I found myself launching off my couch and hitting pitches with my voice that had not been reached before. I think the fact that I was sitting next to a Steph Curry hater (he who shall not be named) made the experience even more rewarding. Even while I’m writing this, almost a week later, my heart is racing, and goose bumps are setting in. Probably the best NBA regular season game I’ve ever seen, and I kind of wish the Warriors and the Knicks played against each other more often. Two pretty even teams that are exciting to watch. Surely, if you had turned the television machine on that night, you were rewarded.

Anyway…sorry about that, just had to tell somebody, ya know?

Staying on the topic of terrific performances, how about our small-school guy Dougie fresh? As a coach, I’ll take 41 points on 18 shots in the conference championship game any day. Although, I do believe Witcha State will make it further than Creighton. At times, Creighton has trouble scoring the ball and Witcha State plays good enough defense that they will be in any game. I would not want to play Witcha State in the dance.

Speaking of the dance, Iowa State did not help their chances with that loss Saturday at Oklahoma. Right now, I believe they are one of the last four in. Iowa State’s free throw defense really needs to improve, although. I mean, come on. Who gives up 34-34 from the line? You’re better than that Clones.

Congrats to the BVU baseball and softball squads on good starts to their seasons. The baseball boys started 2-1, and the softball girls are 3-3. Keep it going! Also, the BV tennis squad captured two more wins last weekend and has a big showdown with Wartburg in the Lamberti Recreation Center this Saturday. It would be great to fill the building to “standing room only” captivity. So, the 5-10 people that read this article, I expect to see you in attendance (if your schedule allows it, of course.)

Gosh I miss Fantasy Football.

Thanks for the read everyone. Good times.
