AG’s Game Center: Moose Strong

Anthony Gallagher, Blogger

Hello Friends,

I hope everyone is having a good week.

As I am sure you have seen on my last couple of posts, I have been using the hashtag #moosestrong. You may have also seen some of my shares about Moose. This weekend I traveled to Adel to attend a benefit for Canyon “Moose” Hopkins, a student at BV and a friend of mine who is battling cancer.

It was great to see Moose and all the people there to support him. The benefit had a lot of great auction items including a signed Chicago Bulls basketball and a signed Magic Johnson jersey.

Also, the Men’s basketball team gave Moose his No. 42 jersey. It was truly an amazing and special moment to see all of the support. I am wishing Moose, his family, and girlfriend Chelsea the best and sending prayers.

One night I remember Moose and I playing some Stratomatic baseball video game for about four hours. The game really had no point, but Moose had that ability to make anything he did fun and enjoyable. “Stay strong.” I can’t wait to see you again.

About those Hawkeyes

Iowa is back into the rankings after crushing Indiana. Iowa is No. 3 in this week’s Big 10 power ranking, ahead of the likes of Wisconsin and Penn State. I think if Iowa would play Wisconsin nine more times, the Hawkeyes would win six.

If Iowa wins out, the Hawks will play for the Big 10 championship, because I don’t think Wisconsin will make it.

Iowa State scored a big upset over West Virginia. I like how ISU has begun to play with Brock Purdy at the helm.

Also, the Los Angeles Rams are the last unbeaten in the NFL. The Rams have always been my favorite team and it is great to see them being successful. If they can stay somewhat healthy, they will be a hard team to beat. If the Rams can keep the home-field advantage and can guarantee they won’t be playing in the cold come playoff time, they will be a tough out and have a chance to make a run at the title.
