Memories of the 1990s

Memories+of+the+1990s

I’m sure most people reading this were born in the 1990s. Some reading this, will actually remember the ‘90s very well and may even reminisce. Most of all, this is the decade of our childhood. I randomly started thinking about the 1990s while looking at all the great super bowls that were in that decade. Like when the four straight times the Buffalo Bills went to the playoffs they lost all four times and the super bowl at the end of the decade between the Tennessee Titans and St. Louis Rams was a thriller coming down to a goal line stop that led to the Rams’ win.

The 1990s were great. Not just for sports, but for entertainment in general. The rap music was born in this decade with Tupac, being the superstar he was, and Biggie Smalls lifting rap to new heights. After Biggie and Tupac, everybody wanted to be a rapper. Movies such as Titanic, Toy Story, Good Will Hunting, and Home Alone were all made in this decade and became instant classics. In fact, I’m pretty sure that readers will wonder why I didn’t list other specific movies. There are just too many good ones.

Our economy wasn’t as bad as it is today. Gas prices went from $1.08 in 1990 to $1.35 in 1995, and as far as I know, that was the highest it was in the 1990s. Bill Clinton was our president for the most part, but George Bush Sr. was present for the 1990s too.

From my personal memories of the 1990s, I remember living on my farm. It was a peaceful time when I didn’t have to do anything for myself. I was born near the middle of the decade in 1994. I remember going down to my crick to fish with my uncle. My driveway was about a mile long. I remember I had to walk down the first stretch of it to get it to the bus in the morning. They were great times, and if I ever feel stressed out about writing a paper or studying, I take a second to think about that time in my life.

The 1990s will forever be ingrained in our minds as a time where we were just dreaming of things we wanted to be when we grew up. I remember I wanted to become an athlete. The 1990s will be a time where all of our dreams seemed real. For me, the 1990s are the time that I look to when I’m down and need a smile.
