For most Buena Vista University (BVU) students, Christmas break is a relaxing time spent at home with family; however, for the winter sports teams, a lot of their break is dedicated to their practices, games, and meets.
Both basketball and wrestling athletes will have about 13 days at home compared to the 24 days that most students will have. They are all expected to workout on their own during their break so they don’t lose what they’ve been working towards.
As a part of their break, the BVU wrestling team is going to the Citrus Open in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. They leave the day after Christmas and will continue to practice for the rest of break when they get back.
”I am excited to go down and wrestle in Florida. It is always fun to travel and compete. We normally stay in the Midwest so it’s nice to get to travel there and have some fun with the team,” junior Seth Shatto said.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams both are not traveling nationally this year as they often do. They will both continue to play games after the holiday.
