Update: A previous version of this story incorrectly reported information about the Iowa Tuition Grant. That information was related to GPS students only and so has been removed.
The Buena Vista University (BVU) Storm Lake campus will see a 3.25% increase in tuition, room and board for 2014-15, making the new sticker price for the upcoming academic year $39,188 for the average student with a Marquis meal plan and who lives in the dorms.
Wednesday morning, BVU President Fred Moore released the official 2014-15 numbers via an email announcement sent out to faculty, staff and students. With the increase, tuition next year will be $30,406. Room and board, which includes the Marquis meal plan, laundry, and cable TV, will be $8,782, or $8,982 if a student lives in the suites, maintaining the additional $200 for suite occupants.
The email sent to faculty and staff stated that BVU is committed to help its students significantly with financial aid to help make “BVU one of the most affordable private institutions in Iowa.”
In the email, Moore said that the 2014-2015 tuition numbers were “in line with the percentage increases for Iowa private colleges and universities.” The overall BVU cost for 2014-15 is actually lower than several other of the Iowa private colleges that have announced their tuition increases. This includes Simpson College, which has a comprehensive cost of $40,513 next year, and Wartburg College with an overall cost of $45,040.
