The Student Senate meeting was filled with information about upcoming events.
This year’s Scholar’s Day may look a little different than it has before. Emily Leighton, Student Senate Secretary, explained, “They’ve [The school has] never had a theme for Scholar’s Day, and they are thinking about doing one this year.”
Leighton continued, the speaker for the American Heritage Series will be announced in only a few days on February 17.
Senate currently has 19 committees. With some committees busier than others, they have decided to consolidate various committees.
The next topic was Buenification Day. In the past, Student Senate has had random people join them during the day of volunteering. They again invite anyone to join they’re team on this day. Austin Groth, Student Senate President, joyfully enlightened the new senators about the schedule of that day, “We [The senators] get to run through the halls and wake everyone up … with pots and pans. We actually got told that we were too loud last year, so we have to be quieter this year.”
Student Senate is able to offer allocations to groups requesting funding. If groups are interested, they can contact Brandy Fowler for more information. There has also been a change in schedule. The meeting scheduled for February 25 has been moved to February 24.
