The Buena Vista University (BVU) men’s golf team competed in the Warburg College Spring Invite in Waverly, Iowa last Friday and Saturday in which the team finished and tied for seventh in a pool of sixteen.

Junior John Bral finished the first day of competition with a score of 76, while seniors Jaxson Armstrong and Andrew Zinn had strong scores to finish up Friday with a 77 and 80, respectively.

The second day of the invite proved to be strong for Bral as he came out and shot a 76 to capture a tie for 8th place in the individual rankings. Junior Luke Anderson and Zinn improved their scores the second day both shooting a team-high of 74. Anderson finished tied for 16th, while Zinn finished tied for 29th.

“I thought we played pretty well as a team last weekend with the limited time we’ve had to be out on the course this spring. We each have a few things to work out individually but I really think there’s potential to shoot some great scores this upcoming weekend and conference,” Anderson said.

As the team prepares for the rest of the season, there are aspects of the game that the team wants to work on.

“Our passion to shoot low scores and play the game how it is supposed to be played is something the team did well this last weekend. As a team, we still have improvement on our mental game and how we approach each round,” Bral said.

The Beavers will take the course again for the BVU Spring Invite at Lake Creek Country Club this weekend starting at 10:00 a.m on Friday.
