Many have heard the buzz about Randomonium’s 30th episode which was also its final. Seniors Zach Schmidt and Chelsey Goetz have been hosting the show and as their time at Buena Vista University winds down, it meant the same for Randomonium. The final episode was held in Anderson Auditorium where many friends, family, and professors came together to enjoy the show and say their final farewells.
To most, this was just a normal episode like all of the others (except that whole live in Anderson with more exciting features part). But what most didn’t know, was there was a bombshell waiting at the end of the episode.
Around the 7:00 pm crew call, I walked into Anderson to see all the hustle and bustle of people getting ready for the show to start at 8:00 pm. Chelsey walked me through the instructions and off she went to tend to other responsibilities. Zach then pulled me aside to break the news. The end of Chelsey’s interview would be very important and it was imperative that I capture it.
The few of us that knew this secret could hardly keep our mouths closed so we didn’t spill the news. All the while, Chelsey was flitting around the stage, prepping people and making sure everything was in place with absolutely no idea about what was soon to come.
The show kicked off right at 8:00 pm and ran smoothly all the way through. Zach seemed to know that time was ticking away, getting closer and closer to the minutes in which his life would change forever. Finally, Chelsey’s interview came and the anxiousness grew for the very few who knew the surprise ending.
After several questions, Zach stood up saying he seemed to have forgotten one last question. It was then that he got down on one knee and proposed to Chelsey.
There was an uproar of cheering and applauding and excitement from the crowd and soon after, many filled the stage to congratulate the two.
Congratulations to Zach and Chelsey, I think it’s safe to say we’ve all been waiting for this moment.
