An Endzone Update: AG Edition
November 14, 2019
What a weekend in football! So many great games and awesome finishes! My biggest surprise of the weekend was the Minnesota Golden Gophers and their upset of Penn State. The Gophs have some studs on offense. That said, Minnesota has a pretty big road game this weekend, and I think we all know how top ten teams do in Kinnick Stadium in November.
Iowa and ISU both lost heartbreakers. I hope Iowa decides the run game just isn’t going to happen this season and they see exactly what Nate Stanley can do.
ISU fans, I don’t know how you all do it.
“My” Rams, on the other hand, have hindered their ability to move the ball by playing position players too much and not leaving enough cap room to ensure the O-line is good enough to run Sean McVay’s offense.
My game of the weekend is not LSU beating Alabama, although it was a great game. The game of the weekend for me was Baylor beating TCU in triple OT. If you haven’t seen the catch in the first overtime by the TCU player in the endzone, go watch it and be amazed.
Turning to the NFL…The Chiefs are in trouble. I said it last year and I’ll quote my article from Jan. 28 concerning Patrick Mahomes: “He is good enough to carry an offense. If the Chiefs want to get to a Super Bowl and win, they are going to need to spend less money on offensive weapons and more on the defense. The Chiefs will be good for many years to come, but their biggest concern next year isn’t the Patriots, it needs to be the Chargers and winning the West.”
I was wrong in thinking it would be the Chargers. Turns out it’s the Raiders, but the quote still rings true.
Now, for the games I find interesting and bet-worthy. In college I went 2-1 and in the NFL, I went 1-2. For this week I do not care about the spread in the Iowa game. Take the Hawks unless they are favored by more than 1.5 points.
As of Monday evening, the line is Iowa -2.5.
I’m seeing Iowa 24-21. The “Boat” is going to stop rowing. Also, James Franklin literally cannot win a big game except vs. Iowa.
Again, I’ll take Oklahoma -10 to cover over Baylor; Sooners 48-35.
Lastly, my lock is Wisconsin -14.5 over Nebraska. Wisconsin is going to destroy Nebraska, 45-14.
In the NFL, my lock is the Patriots -3.5 over the Eagles, as New England cruises, 28-17.
I also like the Texans +4.0 at Baltimore with a win by the Texans, 24-21.
