Time to talk about Curry

Time+to+talk+about+Curry

Grady Gallagher | Blogger

“Hey Grady, everyone wants you to do another meet the beavers article for The Tack. And by everyone I mean the whole basketball team plus all ur readers plus some teachers and I think Mike’s grandma wants you to do it, too. Please Grady.”

Just some fan mail I’ve received recently.

Alright, so it’s no fan mail. It was a request from a friend of mine I received about a week and a half ago. Yes, the friend is not in 4th grade even though his texting skills reflect it. Also, who is Mike? Michael Jordan? Michael Scott? Mike Dunleavy? If any of those three, I’m very happy their grandma enjoyed it.

So, for the numerous readers waiting for a “Meet the Beavs” blog, patience is a virtue. I hope you will understand.

It’s been too long since I talked about Stephen Curry. I remember two summers ago (before the last basketball season), I was working a youth basketball camp up in Minnesota. There was this kid from New York that thought he really knew things about basketball and stuff (I believe his favorite player was Ray Felton or Zach Randolph). Anyway, I bet him that the Warriors would make the playoffs last year if Steph stayed healthy. I remember the big smirk and heartless laugh he returned to me, saying there is no possible way that this would happen. …… I wonder what he’s doing now?

I think the Dubs will be right where they need to be to make another statement come playoff time. They have all the keys of a successful NBA team: a superstar, a knock down shooter, a slasher who can get to the rim frequently, a Harrison Barnes, a top 10 power forward, a center that rebounds and protects the rim, and an excellent coach. This next statement is what this season comes down to: Curry’s ankles.

Speaking of superstars, I need to mention one thing about David Ortiz. Have I seen an athlete more clutch in my lifetime? Seriously, I can think of like five times Big Pappi came through in the playoffs when Boston needed it most. That’s clutch. Why can’t the Cubs find a guy like that? (Shake my head) It seems like he changed the momentum of the whole series with one swing. Believe it or not, I have kept surprisingly good tabs on playoff baseball this year. Why, you might ask? My roommate watches every game.

Lastly, I need to give a quick shout out to one of my good friends Nicholas “Thad Lewis” Clark. Nick has been crying to me the past couple weeks, pleading for some recognition. Well here you go, Nick.

The Book of Nick Clark:

• Nick Clark is a Buffalo Bills Fan.
• Nick Clark currently boasts a record of 3-3 in our BeaverNation Fantasy Football League
• Nick Clark recently “attempted” to cover me in the Intramural Flag Football Flint Michigan Mega Bowl where he only held me to approximately 121 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns, while also letting a freshman cornerback pry a reception from his own hands.
• Not only is bullet #3 entirely true, it also happened after he assured me he hadn’t surrendered a TD in man coverage this season AND that he has the “best hands on this side of the Mississippi”.
• Nick Clark is a Bills Fan.
• Nick Clark, brother of Zak Clark (Maybe you’ve heard of him).
• Nick Clark, you can find him in his room, every day, napping, from 1-2:30 p.m.
• Nick Clark weighs more than any point guard on the BV basketball team. Not making fun of him, but is this really a good thing????
• Nick Clark insists on getting a sub sandwich each day at lunch, no matter the entrée.
• Nick Clark, Buffalo Bills fan.

That’s all folks! Thanks for reading.
