Jalen Henningsen, a sophomore wide receiver from Alta, IA, scored two touchdowns and hauled in seven passes for a total of 193 receiving yards in the Beavers’ 34-32 win over the Simpson College Storm last Saturday, Nov. 9 in Indianola, IA.
Henningsen now holds the record at Buena Vista University (BVU) for receiving yards in a game. His quickness and toughness gives him an edge over all of the team’s opponents.
“Jalen is a threat because he is faster than any guy on the field that we play, he uses his speed to get open, and he’s a physical receiver that makes big plays,” senior quarterback Bobby Brown said.
Henningsen is an extremely hard worker on and off the field. He puts in the time it takes to become a threat to opponents. His tough mentality shows as he takes the field.
“I was mentally focused and pumped to play Simpson who lead the conference. I wanted to knock Simpson out of the playoffs and perform at the level we should have all season,” Henningsen said.
The Beavers’ final game is this Saturday, Nov. 15, in Storm Lake. BVU takes on the University of Dubuque at 12 p.m. This game also marks Senior Day and the last collegiate game for the team’s seniors.
“Dubuque has a very explosive offense and a great defense. They are a good team and we will have to keep their offense off the field as much as possible and put up a lot of points ourselves,” Henningsen said.
