Junior Brady Hannula takes on his third year of cross county at Buena Vista University (BVU). Hannula is from Maplewood, Minnesota and is majoring in Computer Science. Hannula also participates in indoor and outdoor track, as well as being a part of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). Last cross country season, Hannula was an Academic All-IIAC performer and ran his best time at Briar Cliff when he finished in 29:26.38.

So far this season things have not gone the way that Hannula hoped. With a season starting injury, he hasn’t been able to run until as of late.

“I am hoping to be able to finish out the season strong and come into track season in good shape and ready to compete there injury free,” Hannula said.

Head coach Ryan Schroeder has a few words of praise for Hannula.

“Brady is extremely tough, and that is going to help him a lot. He has worked very hard rehabbing, and I know is anxious to be one hundred percent again,” Schroeder said.

With this young team, nobody knows what could happen. As a team, they hope to finish in the top five at conference.

“As far as personal goals, I am always just trying to improve and better myself. I love competing and testing myself and pushing my limits,” Hannula said.

Hannula knows there is a long road to recovery ahead for him. He knows that it won’t be easy, but he will do whatever he can to make sure he comes back.

“I know there are always things I can do to improve myself, not just as an athlete but also as a person,” Hannula said.

There isn’t much season left for these hopeful Beaver runners. Their next meet is the Dr. Tucker Invitational hosted by Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa on Friday Oct. 17 at 4:30 p.m.
