A Fort Dodge native, junior Nick Clark returns this season for his third varsity campaign with the Buena Vista University (BVU) men’s basketball team.

He returns after a great 2013-14 season, where he played in all 27 games. He was ranked second on the team in scoring and third in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) in steals. He also earned All-IIAC honorable mention.

The key phrase when talking about the Beaver basketball team this year is experience. Clark couldn’t agree more with this.

“We return a lot of players who played last year so we have a lot of experience. We have the conference championship on our minds and a National Tournament birth. Me personally, I just want to help out the team the best way I can and hopefully be someone the guys can rely on,” Clark said.

Coaches and teammates alike all have nothing but praise for their player and teammate. His work ethic is one of the most noticeable things about him.

“He’s somebody who works really hard. He works out hard and gets a lot of shots up in his off time. He’s a focused guy, and I expect him to be one of the top players in our conference this year,” head coach Brian Van Haaften said.

The Beaver’s next home game will be Tuesday, Nov. 25 against Bethany Lutheran with tip off at 7:30 p.m.
