The Buena Vista University (BVU) men’s basketball season is under way and along with that comes expectations. Kennedy Drey, a junior forward, is entering his third season as a main contributor.
D3hoops.com named Drey Pre-Season Honorable Mention All-American. Drey appeared in 25 games for the Beavers his freshman year which included 4 starts. Following in his sophomore season, Drey was named to the First Team All-IIAC selection and also to the First Team All-Region selection. Drey averaged a double-double throughout his sophomore year with 14.2 points per game and 10 rebounds per game.
“It’s an honor, but as a team we have goals that we all want to achieve for this upcoming season,” Drey said.
Drey has recently come back from a fractured foot and hopes to make big strides for himself and the team. The team has 15 returners two of which are starters, including Drey and senior guard Nick Clark.
With the team having young players, including six new names on the roster, Drey, along with the other returners believe leadership will be key in keeping the team driven and focused.
“We are young, but we all have high hopes for where we are going as a team and we know what our talent level is as a team and just have to get out on the court and prove it,” Drey said.
The Beavers open play this Sunday, Nov. 15, against Nebraska-Weslyan taking place inside Siebens Fieldhouse with tip off at 4 p.m.
