At almost any Buena Vista University (BVU) home sporting event, you will always see one particular face in the crowd, that of Aaron Meiscer. Some might even refer to Aaron as a sort of, “Superfan”.
Not only is this Storm Lake native a hard-working Hy-vee employee, he also loves to go to the races and spend time with his friends. In everything he has going on, he still finds the time to attend every single home football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball game.
“I love going to all the games, but football and boy’s basketball have to be my favorite because they’re my favorite sport, boys basketball more than all the others,” Aaron said.
Aaron likes cheering the guys on, because he too is a “strong and tough man”. Aaron claims he has gone to just about every BVU game in those sports he possible can in his lifetime so far.
His favorite part about coming to the games is all of student-athletes he gets to see. Interacting with the athletes when they say hello or give him a wave is what keeps him coming back to the games.
“I also love all of the other BVU fans. Everyone is so supportive and happy for the teams when they do well,” Aaron said.
Aaron feels the teams need his support in the crowd. He stands and cheers on the teams even if they are down by 20 and no other voices of the crowd can be heard.
“I really just want all of the BVU teams to be successful. I like when the teams have winning and fun seasons because that is fun to watch, but I’ll always always be there even if it is a bad season,” Aaron said.
So the next time you attend a BVU sporting event, keep an eye out for Aaron and give him a wave or stop to chat. The athletes sure want to keep our Superfan coming back year after year!
