Senior quarterback for the Buena Vista University (BVU) Beavers, Bobby Brown, received yet another weekly accomplishment for his outstanding play. Brown was named the National DIII Quarterback of the Week by USA College Football prior to his record-breaking performances.
“It is a great accomplishment to receive, but I think it means more to the offense because it shows that our performance overall was very successful and the work we have put in is showing on the field,” Brown said.
Brown was also named the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Football Offensive Performer of the Week for the second time this season. Last week against IIAC match up, Loras College, Brown passed for a school single-game record of 432 yards and also tied a single-game record for pass completions with 30. Brown is tied with BVU hall-of-famer Rollie Wiebers for the most all-time touchdown throws.
“He’s having success because of all the work he has put in over the past five years. He has worked hard not only on his skill development, but his understanding of our offense and strengths and weaknesses of coverages. He watches a lot of tape and comes in daily with questions, by the weekend he is very prepared,” head coach Jay Anderson said.
The Beavers have four more conference games to play and are currently tied for first with Wartburg. BVU and Wartburg are the only two teams in the conference who are undefeated so far this season.
“As long as we keep playing like we have played the last three weeks and we keep playing how we’re capable of, I see my senior season ending with accomplishing our goal we set day one in practice, which was to win conference, but in order to do that we are going to have to play our best every Saturday,” Brown said.
Brown and the Beavers play on their home turf in Storm Lake this Saturday, Oct. 18, starting at 1 p.m. against Luther College.
