The Beaver volleyball team surpassed the first round in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) tournament last night, Tuesday, Nov. 4, beating out the 6th seed, the Spartans of the University of Dubuque.
The Beavers had a rough start losing the first set to the Spartans 25-21. The Beavers regrouped the next three sets winning 25-21, 25-21, and 25-11, respectively.
Freshman Jade Schaap lead the team with 25 kills, while freshman Celie Kohls lead the team with 5 blocks. Senior Jordan Henningsen led with 20 digs for the match. During the match, sophomore outside hitter Maddie Bardole, reached her thousandth career kill, while freshman Laura Barry put her name at the top of the record books with 1,393 assists in her career thus far.
The Beavers are looking to take on the 2nd seed in the tournament, the Wartburg Knights, playing at their home court in Waverly on Thursday, Nov. 6, beginning at 7p.m.
