The Buena Vista University (BVU) women’s basketball team will be putting on their annual Offensive Skills clinic on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9-11:30am inside Siebens Fieldhouse.
The camp has been put on for nearly 15 years now in order to focus on developing players currently in 8th-12th grade. The main focus of the camp is to work on shooting form in the drills and working on getting open.
“We hope to get the girls excited about their upcoming season by showing them one or two things that can truly help them be more productive on offense,” head coach Janet Barry said.
The members of the women’s basketball team help run the camp by demonstrating and running the drills.
“This camp gives us an opportunity by teaching our own offensive skills to gain leadership abilities. We also get to meet girls from the community as well as potential recruits. We always invite our recruits up the night before for some team bonding so that is what I am looking forward to the most,” senior Lexi Fisher said.
Not only is there a benefit for the girls participating in the camp, but it is a great experience for the BVU players to have.
“It’s always a fun morning when our players get to interact with girls from the local high schools and even some possible future teammates,” Barry said.
The cost of the camp is $25 and the registration form can be found on the BVU athletics website.
