Show – The Walking Dead
Game – Bayonneta 2
Movie – Big Hero 6
Book – Revival
Hi there girls and guys. I’m back to talk about some of the cool things that have been released this last month, and I’ve gotta say some of it is pretty cool. Without further ado, let’s have a look.
October 12: The Walking Dead
Did you know The Walking Dead started as a comic book? Yup. The comic first came out in 2003, but most people are probably more aware of the show, which started Halloween of 2010 and had its fifth season premier Sunday, Oct. 12. The TV series focuses on Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) who wakes from a coma to discover the world is now covered with zombies, known as “walkers” in the show. Rick heads out to look for his family and other survivors, who become the main cast of the show. It has become really popular in its four years so far and doesn’t look like it will be going anywhere soon.
October 24: Bayonetta 2
Bayonetta was released in America in 2010 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and was the story of the witch Bayonetta who fought angels using guns and magical attacks-not your typical hack and slash adventure. Bayonetta 2 was released for the Wii U on October 24, alongside the original game. The story picks up a couple of months after the first game and adds new characters to allow for multiplayer. The game has received excellent reviews, including a couple of perfect scores from well-known reviewing websites. I know I’ve heard good things about the first one, too, so if you own a Wii U, I would really suggest picking up both games. If you don’t have a Wii U, but have a PS3 or Xbox 360 then you should try out the first game. I bet you’ll like it.
November 7: Big Hero 6
I have been looking forward to this one since I first heard about it. Big Hero 6 is the newest movie from Walt Disney Animation Studios and focuses on the boy Hiro Hamada and his friend, the baloonish robot Baymax as they try to save their home from a man in a mask. The movie was inspired by a Marvel Comics superhero team with the same name and is the first Disney animated film to have characters from Marvel Comics, which has been owned by Disney since 2009. I love Disney movies, and I like superheroes a lot, too, so this movie is like a mix of all the things that I love. It even has things inspired by Japanese culture! This is definitely a good movie to look into if you’re looking for something to spend a couple bucks on.
November 11: Revival
A new Stephen King book? Heck yes. Revival takes place over 50 years and follows nomadic druggie Jamie Morton and ex-Reverend Charles Jacobs as they form a pact that will change both of their lives–and considering the author, this probably isn’t for the better. Stephen King is famous for his horror stories, having been compared to Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne. His previous works include The Shining and its sequel Dr. Sleep, The Mist, The Dark Tower series and more recently Under the Dome. I personally haven’t read this book yet, but it promises to have “the most terrifying conclusion Stephen King has ever written.” That will be up to us in the end, but either way it’s sure to be a great- and terrifying- read.
That’s it for now. I hope that you can find something you’re interested in that will take your mind off of the day to day humdrum and stress bomb that is life. I don’t know what I would do without some free time to myself. I’d probably go crazy, like one of King’s characters.
Anyway, until next time,
