The newest Buena Vista University (BVU) coaches show, “Monday Evening Sports Talk,” is in full swing.

The show, airing live over the BVU portal stream, films every Monday night at Smokin’ Hereford Barbecue in Storm Lake. Towards the back of the restaurant is a long table surrounded by walls decorated with a diverse collection of BVU memorabilia. This is the set for the 30-minute show, which includes interviews with two coaches, or athletic personnel in two, 15-minute segments.

The show is hosted by BVU senior KBVU Sports Director Tanner Hoops, and produced by BVU Director of Sports Information Steven Phelps. Guests who have already appeared in the early episodes of season one include football coach Grant Mollring, volleyball coach Lori Slight, and cross country coach Colt Slack.

“This is going to be something great for our university and its athletic programs,” said BVU Athletic Director Jack Denholm. “We ran something similar when I was at Valley (City State University) and it went really well.”

Phelps agreed the Monday night sports coverage was a good way to garner more attention to BVU sports.

“So far the show has gone really well,” said Phelps. “We are excited for an opportunity to grow and enhance our coverage of athletics.”

Other guests set to appear during “Season One” include: BVU Head Wrestling Coach Jeff Breese, Head Baseball Coach Steve Eddie, Men’s Head Basketball Coach Brian Van Haaften, Head Softball Coach Mandie Berneking, Women’s Head Soccer Coach Sheena Van Roekel, Men’s Head Soccer Coach Ben McArthur and Women’s Head Basketball Coach Janet Berry.

“Monday Evening Sports Talk” airs every Monday at 6 p.m. and can be streamed live online at: http://portal.stretchinternet.com/bvu/.
