For the past couple of months, I have been dealing with daily chronic migraines. I have learned that listening to music really helps me get through them no matter how big or small they are. So here are my top songs that help me get through my migraine journey.
A soft beginning and easy tempo throughout the whole piece. It’s a song that talks about looking forward and leaving everything in the rearview mirror. Things can get better and not everything has to be figured out right now. This really helps when the migraine might make me start to feel moody or upset.
There’s a nice strum of a guitar through the whole song, and Gigi Perez’s voice is soft and calming. It’s a song that talks about the beach and being with another person. This song helps me connect with a memory I have of the beach and how calming it is which really helps with my feelings as well.
This is a quiet song, that stays consistent in the piece. When the migraine starts to cause a lot of head pain, this is an easy song to try to get myself back to focusing and distract myself from a major headache.
This is also a quiet song. I usually listen to this one once the migraine head pain is starting to subside to ease myself back into recovery from a major migraine. This piece is soft and easy to focus on rather than jumping straight back into the chaotic movement of life.
I usually listen to this song when I get irritable and frustrated. These emotions are usually a sign when a migraine might be coming on. This song is fast-paced and helps me think about how I’m feeling in that very moment. It helps me reflect on things and why I might be getting easily irritated.
This is one of my favorite songs to begin with, and it really helps as a quiet song, usually when I’m in my feelings and just need a quick reminder that I will be OK and need to enjoy something rather than focusing on the negativity caused by my migraines. The easy transition of the beginning of the song helps especially when I start to feel some head pain.
This is a quiet song that really helps me focus, especially when I’m trying to get back into the swing of things after recovering from a major migraine. This song helps me get back into working or doing an assignment because of the soft and quiet tones throughout the piece.
This is also another one of my favorite songs to begin with. This song helps me when I start to notice prodrome symptoms, which are symptoms that appear before a migraine attack. This could be mood changes, light sensitivity, fatigue, and more. This song helps ground me and puts me at ease about what is about to come.
This song has an easy, swaying melody. I usually listen to this while transitioning into a recovery and try to get back to an easy “normal.” I would personally call it a quiet and fun melody that helps me get back to feeling myself and ease into louder, upbeat songs.
Lastly, this song is usually one that I listen towards the end of my recovery process. This song starts of a little slow and becomes fast paced. It gets me back into it and try to enjoy more upbeat and fast tempo songs. This song helps me reflect on my feelings and how I reacted from a migraine and how I can work through getting back to how I felt before a major migraine attack.
