When I arrived, to my surprise, a Piper Archer II had just landed and way taxiing back to the hangers.

Deering’s Dorm Decor

Deerings+Dorm+Decor

Kylee Deering | Blogger

Hey Lovely Beavers,

First and foremost, hi. I’m Kylee Deering. I’m a new member of The Tack, a business major with a concentration in marketing and a (soon-to-be) biology minor (because I’m currently a bio major who’s deciding to take a slightly different path). I would tell you my list of accomplishments but pretty much all you need to know is this – I’ve been riding horses since I was 3 years old, showing at Arabian horse shows since I was 10 and my list of accomplishments are hanging in my room in the forms of ribbons and plaques. I’m an avid coffee drinker so if you’d like to find the way to my heart, you don’t have to look too far. Coffee always wins me over. I have my own blog, which is still up and coming and would love more followers (Deerest You). I’m a pretty open book and I’d like to think I’m approachable so if you ever want to know more about me, ask away! But enough about me, this blog is all for you. So I hope you enjoy it!

One of the first things that comes to mind when I think about dorm decor is string lights. This one small detail seems to have the ability to completely change the feel of a room. It’s a pretty inexpensive item to purchase and you can be so creative with how you utilize them. In Sara and I’s dorm, we decorated with red, white and blue string lights across one wall above both of our beds. We also accessorized under her bed, above the futon with some white star string lights. Total, they costed around $10-12 but they make a big difference in our room. We’re able to turn our overhead room light off and still have enough lighting and make the room feel a little warmer.

Other ways I’ve seen the lights used is on the wall around one bed, intertwined into curtains, around a flag, wrapped around the legs of a lofted bed, and around the frame of the door. It’s a good way to decorate your dorm with the limited tools you’re able to use and have on your walls.

There are a few places you can purchase string lights. Wal-Mart always has some in stock and usually has festive ones during different holidays. But if you’re wanting a little something more, Urban Outfitters has some pretty cool options as well. I linked both stores options for you!
