When I arrived, to my surprise, a Piper Archer II had just landed and way taxiing back to the hangers.

Deering’s Dorm Decor: Plants

Deerings+Dorm+Decor%3A+Plants

Kylee Deering | Blogger

Dear Beavers,

If you’re looking to add something with a little originality to your dorm, how about a plant or two? You can get plants to match your dorm, low maintenance plants, or whatever you’d like and it makes your dorm feel more like home. There’s a simple sophistication to having a plant in your dorm to decorate and I think they look so nice.

My roommate and I have brought in a few cacti, an aloe vera plant, and a couple succulents. We bought storage shelves and put them on the shelves and we absolutely love them! They’re low maintenance, only requiring a little water about once a week, if that and they look great as decor!

Some low maintenance plants that are good for dorms are:
Old Fashioned Bleeding Heart
Jack Frost Brunnera
Black Eyed Susan
Vulcan Hosta
Aloe Vera
Succulents
Cacti
Air Plants

These are a handful of plants that require little care to stay maintained and look great in any room! You can really creative with having plants too. The air plants are super fun because you can get little hanging bowls to put them in and hang them anywhere in your room. They don’t have roots and just need misted once in awhile and they’re super cool to look at! For the others, you can get pots that go along with your room, dress up your shelves, desks, or window area, etc. The options are endless. Pinterest is a great way to get ideas as well because they’ve got about a million different ideas to get you started.

Shop around, see what sizes of plants you like, what vases and pots you like the look of, and how much maintenance you want in your plants. Most of them come pretty cheap so getting them is easy too!

Below is a picture of our plants and we’re loving how they look!

Good luck plant shopping!
